Play It Again, Frank Book Signings

 In Blog, EFC Books

Over my recent family vacation I had the honor of doing two book signings in my home state of Iowa. The first was at Plot Twist Bookstore in Ankeny outside of Des Moines and the second was at Dragonfly Books in Decorah, the town where I was born, had my first job and my first apartment.

I was overjoyed to have the enthusiastic support of my family including 6 of my 7 brothers and my sister showing up at the signing in Decorah. Some of my extended family also visited including cousins I had not seen in many years.

It’s wonderful to see old and beloved faces, but the new connections I made were amazing. Talking to the book store owners reminded me of both the difficulties independent book stores experience as well as the great value they provide (story time for kids, author events and speakers/workshops). If you have an indie bookstore in your area, please give them your business!

I also got to meet other writers including the reporter for the local newspaper who interviewed me for a blurb on decorahnews.com. He was gracious enough to both buy a copy of my book and give me a copy of his book, which I am anxious to read. Check out Life at the Crossroads: Reflections from a Country Store by Robert Felde!

At the very end of the second signing I met Arthur, an aspiring writer who wanted to hear what inspires me and how I came up with my plot line for Play it Again, Frank. We both find much inspiration for our writing from music. Meeting kindred spirits is probably the best side benefit of doing book signings!

I was nervous heading into these events as you can never predict how they will go. It was all worth it in the end and I can’t wait to do it again!

If you haven’t already done so please check out Play It Again, Frank, a story of second chances and the first book in the Guardians of Redemption series!
